Nicholl Fellowship

NICHOLL SCREENWRITING FELLOWSHIP

Hopefully by now you are reading Script Shadow on a daily basis.
This week is a treat because he is reviewing the winning scripts from the Nicholl Fellowship.

The Nicholl Fellowship is a yearly contest that is supported by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. To win this competition is a big deal. A great number of the winners have gone on to find agents or managers, and sometimes sell their script to producers.
Since 1991, over 3,500 writers have entered the Nicholl Fellowships each year. A record 6,380 entries were received in 2009. All scripts are read at least once in the competition. About half are read a second time and about one-sixth are read a third time. About five percent of entries advance to the competition quarterfinals, about two percent advance to the semifinals and about 10 reach the finals.
Those are tough odds, but if you have a good script and work on it, you can maybe have a shot.

As mentioned before, over at Script Shadow they are reviewing the winning scripts. You can read the review and then read the script yourself.

Or hop on over to the Nicholls page and get the lowdown on how you can enter for next year's competition.

It's really tough to make it in this business as a writer, but having a prize-winning script under your belt is probably a good help.

Good luck next year!
